By accessing or using OpenCapital ("Service," "Platform," or "Website"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service.
OpenCapital is a research platform that turns public SEC filings into structured, queryable financial data for U.S.-listed companies. The Service includes company profiles, metric pages, segment breakdowns, earnings calendars, and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets AI assistants query the same data.
The public website and the data on it are free to use. We also offer an optional paid subscription that unlocks power-user features, and we separately license our data to businesses under individual agreements. How you may reference, reuse, and license the data is set out in Section 6.
The information provided through our Service is for informational and educational purposes only. We do not provide financial, investment, trading, or legal advice. You should not rely on our Service as a substitute for professional financial advice from a qualified financial advisor.
Nothing on this Platform should be construed as a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or investment. All investment decisions are made at your own risk, and you should conduct your own research and due diligence before making any investment decisions.
While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data on our Platform. Financial data may be delayed, incomplete, or contain errors.
OpenCapital is built to help you research public companies and form your own view. Before you act on anything you see on the site, three things to keep in mind:
You must be at least 18 years old to use our Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
You agree not to:
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by OpenCapital and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. You may not use our trademarks, logos, or branding without our prior written consent.
The financial datasets published on OpenCapital — including metric pages, segment breakdowns, time-series data, tables, and charts — are derived from public SEC filings. The underlying SEC filings are in the public domain, but OpenCapital's compilation, normalization, classification, labeling, and derived calculations (including TTM rollups, segment attribution, fiscal-to-calendar period mapping, and metric taxonomy) are proprietary and protected by copyright as a database and compilation work.
We encourage you to reference OpenCapital. For free and without seeking permission — including for commercial editorial use such as newsletters, blogs, articles, research notes, and educational materials — you may:
We ask only that you give visible attribution to OpenCapital with a link back to the page you used, that you do not remove or obscure any attribution shown within a chart or screenshot, and that you do not present our data or charts as your own. Full guidance and examples are on our Citation & Reuse page.
Some uses go beyond citation and require a separate written license, which we handle individually. Contact support@opencapital.sh before you:
OpenCapital is free to use. We also offer an optional paid subscription that unlocks power-user features such as unmetered MCP access, an unlimited watchlist, and brokerage integration. The public website and the data on it remain free whether or not you subscribe.
Paid subscriptions are offered on a monthly or annual basis at the prices shown on our pricing page. Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card details. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for that plan, until you cancel.
You can cancel at any time from your account settings. When you cancel, your subscription stays active through the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again. We will never require you to contact us or complete extra steps in order to cancel.
Because you can cancel at any time and keep access through the period you have paid for, we generally do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods. If you were charged in error, or something is not right, email support@opencapital.sh and we will make it right.
We may change subscription prices. If we do, the new price applies only to your next billing period, and we will give you notice beforehand so you can decide whether to continue. Any term you have already been charged for is not affected.
Listed prices may be exclusive of applicable taxes, which will be added where required by law.
Our Service may contain data sourced from third parties, including the SEC and other financial data providers. We are not responsible for the accuracy or reliability of third-party data. The Service may also contain links to third-party websites that are not owned or controlled by OpenCapital. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for such third-party content.
You may choose to sign in to OpenCapital using your Google account. By doing so, you authorize us to access certain information from your Google account, including your name, email address, and profile picture. Your use of Google's services is subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
OpenCapital offers optional integration with Google Calendar to help you track earnings announcements. By granting calendar access, you authorize us to:
We do not read, modify, or access any other events in your calendar. You can revoke this access at any time through your Google Account settings.
Google, Google Calendar, and the Google Calendar logo are trademarks of Google LLC. OpenCapital is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google. Our use of these trademarks is solely for the purpose of identifying the integration features we provide.
OpenCapital offers an optional feature that lets you connect a brokerage or other investment account so you can view your holdings alongside our research. To enable this, we use Plaid Inc. ("Plaid"), a third-party financial data provider.
By connecting an account, you authorize OpenCapital and Plaid to access and retrieve information from the financial institution you select, including account and institution names, account balances, investment holdings, securities information, and investment transactions. You represent and warrant that you are the owner of, or are otherwise authorized to access and use, any financial account you connect.
You grant Plaid the right, power, and authority to access and transmit your information as reasonably necessary to provide this feature. Your use of Plaid is governed by Plaid's End User Privacy Policy, and you agree to its terms. We never receive or store your financial institution login credentials — those are handled directly by Plaid.
Holdings and account data displayed through this feature are provided for informational purposes only, may be delayed, incomplete, or contain errors, and do not constitute financial, investment, or trading advice or any recommendation. The disclaimers in Section 3 apply in full to this data.
You may disconnect a linked account at any time from your OpenCapital account settings. Disconnecting revokes our ongoing access to that account and stops further data retrieval; you may separately request deletion of previously retrieved data as described in our Privacy Policy.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OPENCAPITAL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless OpenCapital and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any third-party rights.
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts located in the United States.
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of any material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and OpenCapital regarding the use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
